One of the best things about buying a Naperville home for sale is that you get to enjoy the pleasures of the many wonderful things this small town offers while also taking delight in the amazing city life!

One of the best things about buying a Naperville home for sale is taking delight in the pleasures this small town offers while at the same time enjoying the perks of city life. Naperville, a suburban city just 40 minutes’ away from Chicago, has activities and events guaranteed to give everyone – from children to adults – a wonderfully festive and memorable experience this glorious season.

  1. Naper Lights Display. This holiday light display in downtown Naperville was just launched this year. Thanksgiving to New Years’ Day, all of Naperville’s Central Park will be converted into a Christmas light extravaganza with a combination of holiday displays.  “Downtown Naperville during the holidays is a special place," said John Colucci, Naper Lights co-chair. "The city is aglow with lighted trees and festive displays in the stores. Our goal is to add to this festive spirit in a free, family-friendly manner; our hope is to make this a tradition in the years ahead." There is no charge for visitors, and you and your family or friends will surely have a grand time strolling in the park and admiring the displays!

  1. Annual Cup of Cheer House Walk. The Cup of Cheer™ has become a tradition for many Naperville homeowners as a way to begin the holiday season. Since 1961, the Naperville Garden Club has offered a Christmas Tea, where ticket holders receive a bone china cup and saucer as a memento of the event. Club members continue to make decorations, wreaths and gift items to be sold and bake cookies to be enjoyed with a cup of tea. The House Walk is an added feature to this fundraiser. This season, four homes have been carefully selected to showcase Naperville at its best. Experience this amazing tradition and get decorating ideas for your own Naperville home from the stunning displays!

  1. Santa on the Riverwalk. Naperville residents and families from surrounding communities flock to the little red, white and green house on the Riverwalk to meet Santa. Children can whisper their wishes in Santa’s ear and have their photos taken. You can either bring your own camera or have your pictures taken for $8.

  1. Ringing In the New Year. A wide range of activities and free entertainment such as face painting, magic shows, scavenger hunts and sledding (if there’s snow) are available in downtown Naperville on New Year’s Eve. What’s more amazing is their New Year’s Eve countdown happens twice - first at 6:00 pm and then again at 12:00 midnight. For the 6:00 p.m. countdown, participants are provided with bells to ring while kids are given glow necklaces. Prior to the midnight countdown, a concert takes place revving up the atmosphere for the welcoming of the New Year. Everyone is sure to have a good time.

  1. Shopping, Shopping and More Shopping! With the holiday buzz in full gear, expect amazing deals and great discounts from chain stores and independent shops. "Naperville is a great shopping destination for everything from auto sales to groceries," said Christine Jeffries, president of the Naperville Development Partnership.  Twinkling lights, colorful holiday displays and lively music on the streets add festive ambience making your shopping experience more enjoyable and meaningful.
